Inspiration 🌟

When people think of education, they often focus on specific subjects they either enjoy or dislike. However, the true purpose of education is to improve people's lives. Harleen, a teammate from India, has always been troubled by the lack of sex education in her country, and this hackathon has reinforced her determination to find a solution to this problem within the education system.

What it does 📱

EnlightenU is an app which provides non-explicit and basic education about sex education to the adolescents of India.

How we built it 🛠️

Our mission was to utilize education as a means to decrease the number of HIV cases. Our journey began with brainstorming sessions with our team to formulate a clear vision. We then divided our work into three parts: prototype development, pitch deck creation, and video editing.

Challenges we ran into 💪

At first, it was challenging to have a group conversation with one teammate in a different time zone. However, over time, our communication improved to the point where we could rely on each other without difficulty. This was our initial attempt at creating a prototype using Figma, which contributed to slower progress in the beginning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of 🪷

We are thrilled to announce that we have acquired the skill of using Figma. It is a privilege to participate in the remarkable transformation that is happening in India. The impact of this change can be extraordinary, and we are eager to contribute to its success.

What we learned 🧠

Perseverance: Building a working prototype with no prior knowledge of how to build one was indeed challenging, but it made us learn a new thing which we can utilize in the future.

What's next for enlightenU 🌌

EnlightenU is a project that we hold dear to our hearts. Through hosting camps in slums and working with private schools, we have the potential to make a significant impact and bring about positive change. We hope to expand this platform to other international countries, such as Indonesia, and Belgium, so that we can continue to spread knowledge and empower individuals around the world.
