This asset was inspired by the classic exploding barrels from Half-Life 2.
I wanted to make something fun and juicy, while learning how to use the Horizon Worlds Desktop Editor.
The project was built using the Horizon Worlds Desktop Editor and typescript.
The main challenge was learning the details of the engine, for example figuring out why the OnAudioCompleted event wasn't triggering... spoiler alert... there is a toggle switch in the AudioGizmo properties panel that needs to be set to Send Event on Completion...
Other challenges included figuring out what was a good speed threshold to set to trigger the explosion, and stopping the barrel from exploding when it would touch the ground during the grab animation.
The next steps would be to add damage, knockback camera shake and fracturing the mesh.
