Inspiration
When looking into the Holiday Extras website, we identified some systems that we thought could be simplified to enhance the user experience. We therefore selected one of these features to redesign.
What it does
Our prototype strives to streamline the process of booking multiple add-ons, by centralising the booking of add-ons into one process.
How we built it
We used Django, Tailwind CSS and an SQLite database to create the prototype. Holiday Extras initially proposed an AI chatbot or related AI systems. However, due to the environmental implications of overusing AI, we instead decided to develop a more simplistic system as ultimately we thought this approach would still enhance the user experience without affecting Holiday Extras' digital footprint.
Challenges we ran into
- passing data between pages
- pagination
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We feel that, although our prototype does not fully fulfil the client's criteria, we are proud of the work we accomplished in such a short timeframe, especially due to unfamiliarity with some of the technologies we were using.
What we learned
Throughout this project, we had to quickly pick up tools that we were unfamiliar or unconfident with. In spite of this, we created a project and presented the project to our client. We have developed both our knowledge in website development technologies and presentation over the past 24 hours, as well as our time management.
What's next for Holiday Extras
If Holiday Extras like the proposed new booking system for add-ons, this prototype could be rewritten to integrate with Holiday Extras' existing systems. Otherwise, this prototype could be repurposed in the future to streamline alternative booking processes.
