Inspiration During this pandemic, many students around the world are struggling with online learning. It is difficult for them to stay focused on a specific task without getting distracted. When studying for hours straight, a student’s attention span decreases exponentially, causing them to get much less done than they could when focused. We decided to combat this problem by using a method called the Pomodoro technique. The Pomodoro technique uses intervals to break down your time, we do this in 25 minute periods of working and then proceed by a 5 minute break time after each “Pomodoro”. This studying technique has been scientifically proven to maintain high-efficiency levels and increase attention spans.

What it does EZStudy is a one-stop-shop for users to take the Pomodoro technique of studying but also, learn, study, listen to music and enjoy breaks all from the home of our website. We do this by allowing the user to enter the tasks they need to complete and then EZStudy makes a to-do list filled with all the needed tasks to be completed. If the user needs help in a subject--they can quickly search about their subject on YouTube without having to leave EZStudy. The user also has the options to play music of their choice from their favorite streaming platforms as well as check work from websites such as Mathway or Desmos and study/learn using websites like Wolfram Alpha and Quizlet.

How we built it We built EZStudy through HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and then hosted it to the web using Google Firebase and domain.com

Challenges we ran into There were many challenges that we encountered and overcame such as properly sequencing the order of events that trigger the timer and other events that keep the sutdy cycle moving. In addition to many tests of CSS to get everything in the right spot, pushing the code to GitHub every couple of hours, and hosting all the code live to EZStudy.tech

Accomplishments that we're proud of Some accomplishments that we’re proud of is that this was a first time Hackathon for all four of us, so we are proud of how well the project came out in such little time. We are also happy that we were able to complete all the tasks that we had planned at the beginning of this Hackathon with room for improvement and upgradeability. The website is also on EZStudy.tech using domain.com and googles firebase to host the website. Publishing the website on the internet was very exciting. Another accomplishment we are proud of is that this is a product that anyone in the world can use for efficient use of time, to focus better, and to complete tasks quickly and easily.

What we learned We also learned many things such as joining the hackathon with minimal experience of javascript and leaving with so much more knowledge about javascript as well as learning more about HTML and CSS and having more experience with them. On top of improving our programming skills, we learned how to work in a team efficiently and how to get things done by a deadline.

What's next for EZStudy EZStudy hopes to one day become an app for all platforms, in addition to doing that we also hope to use GCP (Google Cloud Platform's) AI to learn individual's study habits and other similar student's study habits and start recommending specific materials or exercises to the learner.
