The idea was originally conceived by Taimoor Rana, the team lead for this project. A few months ago we decided to form a group for McHacks and immediately started brainstorming ideas. After a lot of discussion, we decided that Taimoor's ordering system application would be the perfect project size and platform for this hackathon.
This app is aimed at 20-35 year olds that own smartphones and carry them religiously. This market segment has been shown to have a short attention span and a sense of importance that leads them to constantly pursue efficiency in all aspects of their lives. This application allows users to order drinks at a coffee shop ahead of time, as well as pay for them on the spot with a two-touch ordering system. This saves the user time by avoiding waiting in line as well as waiting around for their drinks to be made.
User payment information is stored on a server, as well as their history of purchases. This allows for data mining and statistical analysis of transactions, providing a huge benefit to the store owner. This information can be displayed using a web interface that can be opened using any popular browser.
The project was completed with approximately one hour left in the hackathon, resulting in an Android app installed and working on a physical HTC phone, as well as an iOS app installed and working on an iPhone6 simulator.
