Inspiration

You know those website feedback pop up messages that slap into your face and cover everything when you visit a website for the first time? Yeah I hate those. But I also wish there was a faster way to provide some feedback when I actually run into an issue. It's a pain to fill out a form with all the info but at the same time I don't want to be tracked on every little thing I do (if I'm taking a bathroom break I'd hope the website wouldn't know that I'm in the bathroom lol 👀) so I appreciate opting into a way to give feedback.

This is mostly an issue on outdated student org websites, where all students are busy running the club and everything can seem like a priority. Meanwhile sponsors, fellow student members, and advisors are trying to figure out where the most up-to-date info is located! There are chatbots and cool tools but wouldn't it be great to actually be able to type less and just show the problem and move on?

So I'm introducing: Auto Feedbackup

What it does

When you visit the student org website for the first time you'll see the login option for version B of the option so you know first hand that there is a session-tracked version of the website you can use to provide fast feedback. When you can't find what you're looking for or you're facing a negative user experience, login to version B and retrace the steps and you're done (just log out). The website maintainer will see a new recording and they can review the same session to decide what to do next. There is a search bar on every page so you can also communicate a message to the future viewer of your recording by typing in comments right there! :)

How I built it

I built it with Clarity, Google Sites, Google Tag Manager, Google Apps Script

Challenges I ran into

I couldn't get out of my workshift so I had a lot less time than usual to tinker but I'm glad I took a step into this! Also Clarity's API calls are limited to 10 calls per project, per day. womp womp

Accomplishments I'm proud of

Got to use Google Tag Manager and Microsoft Clarity for the first time!

What I learned

A whole world of data interpretation. Rage clicks are a thing!

What's next for Auto Feedbackup

I would like to change the flow from logging in to button press...and continue integrating the pieces more smoothly :)
