Inspiration

Our team was inspired by the recent increased focus on anonymity and privacy in Internet browsing.

What it does

FilterBypass launches as a Google search engine that accepts searches or URLs. All subsequent searches or links will be accessed through anonymous proxies, ensuring the privacy of the user and protection from trackers.

How we built it

FilterBypass was built using Node.js, HTML, CSS, and shell scripting. We compiled and hosted the project using Replit.

Challenges we ran into

Most of the challenges we ran into occurred during the finalizing process. We encountered many errors from Replit and GitHub that were obscure and hard to find fixes for online. Some errors we were unable to fix and were forced to find workarounds.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our team is proud that we were able to put together a well-functioning and polished application in the timespan of this hackathon. We are also proud that we were able to find solutions to or work around the many problems we faced during the project.

What we learned

From this hackathon, we learned how to utilize technologies like Node.js and shell scripts. We also learned lots of new troubleshooting skills as a result of the problems we encountered during the finalizing process.

What's next for FilterBypass

Our future plans for FilterBypass including packaging it as an executable program, enabling it to be accessed locally as a program as opposed to only online at a website. Porting FilterBypass into the form of a program would help make it much more popular and marketable as software.
