Inspiration - We wanted to make an app that can help people learn and also try to help people with learning disabilities or limitations. We also wanted to make something that we personally would use as college students.

What it does do - It is a website that takes input from users in the form of URLs or text and return flash cards by extracting and defining keywords from the text with the help of AI

How we built it - We started by coding the skeleton code in python to take user inputs and perform the desired tasks, i.e. extracting keywords and parsing the article with the help of pre-existing algorithms and python modules. Some members of the team were working alongside to prepare the mockup of the user interface and also prepare the code for the front end. We later compiled the two in order to complete the project.

Challenges we ran into - We had a hard time coming up with a suitable and a viable idea in the start. Later, we struggled with connecting the frontend with the backend of the website with each other. We also struggled with managing our time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of - We are happy with the HTML and CSS stuff we were able to get done as it was a challenge for us.

What we learned - We learned a lot about the tech industry as well as career opportunities by participating in tech talks and talking to the mentors. We were amazed by their knowledge and even made a great connections with those that shared similar backgrounds with us. Spartahack was also the first hackathon our team participated in together as a group so it was a unique learning opportunity for all of us.

What's next for FlashCardify - If we continue to work on this project beyond the hackathon, we plan to accommodate for functions to make it more accurate and efficient. We plan to employ better AI modules and reduce the time taken for it to run. We also hope to improve the UI and make it more interactive.
