Inspiration

The inspiration for FleetFlow came from the need to streamline the scheduling process for a tire change shop operating during the busy season right before winter. We aimed to tackle the unique challenge of managing varying service times for different vehicle types, while also ensuring maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction. Since SAP company focuses on the simplicity and sustainability, we made sure to build the website as simple as possible to meet the company's satisfaction.

What it does

FleetFloat is an innovative scheduling software designed to optimize the appointment process for a diverse range of vehicles, including compact, medium, and full-size passenger cars, as well as class 1 and 2 trucks. The software dynamically manages service bays, ensuring at least one bay is always available for each vehicle type. It also processes data from CSV files for appointment scheduling, adheres to a FIFO booking policy, and tracks both actual and potential revenue, highlighting the number of serviced and declined customers per vehicle category.

How we built it

We built FleetFlow using a combination of programming languages and technologies best suited for handling data processing, scheduling algorithms, and user interface design. We mainly used CSS, HTML, JavaScript for frontend and Node.js and MySQL for the backend. The core of the software focuses on efficient data parsing from CSV files, implementing a robust scheduling algorithm, and ensuring a user-friendly interface for both the shop managers and customers.

Challenges we ran into

Our major challenges included handling overlapping appointments, maintaining real-time bay availability, and developing a user-friendly interface that could accommodate a range of user tech proficiencies. Balancing technical functionality with simplicity in the UI/UX design was particularly challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are particularly proud of creating a solution that not only meets the functional requirements but also enhances the overall user experience. Our system's ability to minimize customer turn-away and maximize revenue potential, while maintaining operational efficiency, stands as a testament to our team's hard work and innovation.

What we learned

This project deepened our understanding of resource management and customer service optimization in a real-world context. We learned the intricacies of scheduling algorithms and gained valuable experience in creating user-centric software solutions.

What's next for FleetFlow

Looking ahead, we plan to incorporate AI-driven predictive analysis to further refine our scheduling efficiency. We also aim to expand FleetFlow capabilities to cater to a wider range of service-based businesses, adapting the software to different industries and operational scales.
