“There can be as much value in the blink of an eye as in months of rational analysis.” ― Malcolm Gladwell, Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking
There exists an untapped potential for gifs in the use of simple note creation of video content. Imagine you're watching a video of a presentation, a conference talk or a lecture and you feel that something important is expressed and you want to share it and document it somehow. Gif's are the perfect way to do this, with GifNotes easily create Gif and text notes on any video you watch. Share the GifNote you created in a Social Media post, save it to our platform and visit other's GifNotes.
GifNotes are a new, simple, and engaging way of presenting information. Each GifNote consists of gifs and text, organized in a simple-to-read format. These notes can be used to create summaries of lengthy videos, easy-to-understand tutorials, and comments on personal moments. Gifs have captured the attention of millions of people; they are easy and engaging. Why not create an easy way to collect gifs into a GifNote?
What it does
Creating a platform that allows users to make notes in the form of gifs and text boxes.
How we built it
We used the Gfycat create and API, Javascript, NodeJS and MongoDB.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing an ability to save and share the GifNotes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have a completed working prototype that we are proud of and will enjoy using ourselves.
What we learned
Many things in web development, like making API queries and working with video and gifs.
What's next for GifNotes
Develop an online database that allows users to upload, share, and read gifnotes. Add other objects in gifnotes: videos, still images, interactive elements.
