Meme & Comedy Focused Gameplay

Shouts (Emoji Bubbles):
Players can now unlock and trigger visual emoji bubbles that pop up over their heads during gameplay for perfectly timed fun reactions mid fight.
Victory Dances with Glizzy Rain:
When a player wins, the camera cuts to a cinematic shot of them performing their chosen victory dance while glizzys rain from the sky. It’s absurd, glorious, and viral, perfect for short form videos and memes.
Comedic Theme:
Embrace the absurd: avoid getting knocked off the floating arena while trading blows with a ketchup covered hot dog.

Sharable Moments & Video-Ready Design

Updated Camera Angles:
Dynamic Lobby Cam and In Game Cam added to better frame action, including the glizzy rain finale.
Quest & Rank System:
Players now have a visual rank display and can complete quests to earn Gems for unlocking items and victory dances, creating satisfying, shareable moments.
Visual Effects & Custom Animations:
Includes new swing animations, jump VFX, and a polished HUD for smoother and flashier gameplay.

Player Ranks:
Players earn visible ranks by winning matches, bragging rights and progression all in one.
Updated Leaderboards:
Enhanced for mobile and VR visibility to drive friendly competition.
Double Currency System:
Players earn:

Shop & UI Improvements

Mobile Store Overhaul:
Built from scratch with smooth, intuitive navigation and camera API support to view your avatar while shopping.
VR Store Updates:
Shifted from grabbable purchases to CUI for a more cohesive, upgraded world experience.

Inspiration

Glizzy Gladiator was already chaotic and hilarious, but we aimed to make it even more shareable. Inspired by short form content and ridiculous party games, we added visual humor, expressive unlocks, and iconic moments like raining hot dogs.

How We Built It

We rebuilt major systems with shareability and parity in mind, new camera angles, SFX, emoji shouts, cinematics, jump VFX, avatar animations, and CUI updates, for both mobile and VR.

Challenges

Balancing mobile and VR play was tough, especially syncing the store and camera system. Initially, we considered submitting separate entries but combined efforts for a stronger project. Collaborating across US and UK time zones added complexity but the collaboration improved the outcome.

Accomplishments

We’re proud of the smooth gameplay across both platforms. The store system allows item previews, real time cosmetic display, and avatar visibility. The cinematic victory cam with glizzy rain is a fan favorite, creating a hilarious and memorable moment.
