Inspiration

Our inspiration for Graphixpro came from our extensive experience with design tools like Photoshop and Illustrator. We wanted to bring similar powerful features into Canva, making advanced image editing accessible to everyone.

What it does

Graphixpro offers a suite of image editing tools within Canva, including:

  • Invert Color: Quickly flip the colors of your image.
  • Film Effect: Add a vintage film look to your images.
  • Halftone Pattern: Add a halftone dot effect to your images.
  • Watermark: Add a watermark to your Canva designs, with options for positioning in corners or a centered grid.

How we built it

We built Graphixpro using the Canva Apps SDK, leveraging React and TypeScript to create a seamless and responsive user experience. Each feature was carefully crafted to integrate smoothly with Canva’s existing interface. We utilized the glfx library for advanced image manipulations, such as applying halftone patterns and grayscale effects.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring that our features felt native to Canva. We spent a lot of time fine-tuning the user interface and performance to meet Canva’s stringent review process. Additionally, integrating advanced image manipulation while maintaining performance and responsiveness was a significant technical challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of successfully integrating advanced image editing features into Canva, making them accessible to a wider audience. Our app’s seamless performance and intuitive design are also significant achievements. The use of glfx for real-time image effects and the ability to dynamically generate and position watermarks are standout features.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned a lot about the Canva Apps SDK and the importance of creating a native feel for third-party apps. We also gained valuable experience in front-end development, user experience design, and advanced image processing techniques using libraries like glfx.

What's next for Graphixpro

Next, we plan to expand Graphixpro with more features, such as animated diagrams and watermarking tools.
