Inspiration

In more recent times, NFTs and Blockchains have been gaining attention. Hedera is a next gen. form of blockchain utilizing proof-of-stake that makes transactions quicker and safer than ever. We decided to implement as many benefits that Hbar has to offer as possible in this project.

What it does

Using Hbars as a currency, for now, the H-Mart is able to make quick transactions with h-bars from one user to another in seconds in a cost-efficient and time-efficient manner. H-Mart also allows users to communicate with one another to discuss product details or communicate with the seller through H-Mart's hbar message sending authorized by tokens. When transactions are made, H-Mart will reflect the changes that have incurred on the user's balance on the website in real-time so it is evident what the transaction has been and what else the user still has a balance for.

How we built it

Node.js, Socket IO, Hedera Javascript SDK, Javascript, HTML/CSS

Challenges we ran into

Understanding how the server/backend communicates with the frontend and understanding how to use the Hedera SDK and the functions available in the API/Library. We ran into merge conflicts that necessitated making a new repo (StormHacks THIS WORKS) in order to finish off where we left from the other repo where these issues caused malfunctions in the back-end.

What we learned

Fullstack development and more experience with Javascript/Socket IO. Learning about Hedera was also an interesting experience getting exposure to blockchain and being able to better understand what it does and the purposes it can serve in today's age.
