Inspiration
Communication is a perpetual challenge for the deaf, with a very small portion of the population knowing the American Sign Language gestures that are central to comfortable communication with the deaf. HandiSign is intended to close this gap by seamlessly translating spoken input into tactile, humanistic sign gestures.
What it does
HandiSign is a poof of concept that this vision is possible, incorporating a user interface through the Arduino command line, and a sophisticated set of motion control algorithms to ensure faithful reproduction of many of letter characters is ASL.
