A VR movie theater, with a giant screen, but instead of previews you're greeted by a familiar face. A beloved movie character or a famous critic. An AI concierge who knows your tastes.

Inspiration:

Frustration with the impersonal nature of current streaming platforms and the overwhelming number of choices. A desire to create a more immersive and personalized movie-watching experience. The dream of building a virtual world where film lovers can connect with their favorite stories and each other.

What it does:

Cineverse is a VR/MR immersive movie theater app featuring a chatbot concierge (like Garfield) that offers personalized movie recommendations. The concierge suggests themed snacks, recipes, and merchandise to enhance the viewing experience. AR filters allow users to "try on" costumes and decorate their virtual spaces. A shared virtual theater fosters community interaction.

How we built it:

We utilized VR/MR development platforms like Unity and Unreal Engine. Twelve Labs' Embed API was key to creating the video Q&A chatbot. Natural Language Processing (NLP) powered the chatbot's conversational abilities. AWS cloud computing resources provided scalability and performance.

Challenges we ran into:

Integrating complex technologies like VR/MR, AI, and NLP. Balancing personalization with a user-friendly interface. Ensuring the chatbot's recommendations were accurate and engaging. Optimizing the app for various VR/MR headsets.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

Creating a unique and immersive movie-watching experience. Developing a sophisticated chatbot concierge with personalized recommendations. Successfully integrating AR filters and a shared virtual theater. Building a platform that fosters a sense of community among film lovers.
