Inspiration
the lack of underrepresentation in certain field needs to be corrected. we want women to be aware of the actual disparities they they have n=and that it is entirely possible to be in these categories.
What it does
HerIpo is a website that has the different categories where the user can learn about statistics and data in the underrepresented fields involving women, a swipe card deck of choices and a monetized forum where verified paid users can talk to others.
How we built it
we used html, css and javascript for he entirety of the project. during a late night zoom meeting, we collaborated on a google doc to discuss themes and the color palette of choice. throughout the building of herIpo, we used Genevas to discuss the functionalities and help each other out when we ran into problems. wee used replete and GitHub for the building and sourcing.
Challenges we ran into
we actually has the wrong idea of what the monetization actually was, so we had to use the exclusive content feature for the chat in order to implement coil. the swipe cards are another issue that we ran into, actually getting them onto the page is something very interesting to even imagine.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
we have a rookie on our team who never participated in a hackathon, we are so proud of her for her effort and initiative to get the ball rolling on the project. I am personally proud of the team for making sure to meet together even though we live in different timezones and coming up with a project that everyone is passionate about.
What we learned
The statistics of women unrepresented is very large but with the educational functions implemented on our site, we will be able to let women and young girls know that anything is possible. teamwork makes the dream work, even if you really don't know much about the dream.
What's next for HerIpo
HerIpo will be an investment platform in young women. that is a functionality that we wanted to have yet were unable to due to time and actually figuring out what COIL really was.
