Inspiration

ImageWise, an exceptional technological advancement, tackles the challenges encountered by developers like you and me. It provides the ultimate solution to the struggles of sourcing assets and optimizing images on websites. Understanding the value of using the lightweight, high-quality WebP image format, ImageWise comes to the rescue. Its boundless webp converter feature empowers developers to easily convert images in bulk without any restrictions or additional expenses. However, access to the image generative features requires payment due to the non-public API and the necessary investment in training the AI models. Therefore, these AI features can be obtained by requesting them via WhatsApp after user login.

What it does

Imagewise is a versatile technological tool designed to assist developers in various aspects of their projects. Its main functions include:

  1. Asset Sourcing: Developers can easily find and access the visual elements they require with feature from AI in prompt text to image.

  2. Unlimited WebP Converter: Imagewise allows developers to convert an unlimited number of images to the WebP format, providing improved loading speeds and overall website performance.

  3. AI-Powered Image Generation: The tool offers advanced AI-powered image generation capabilities, enabling tasks like colorizing monochrome images, fixing resolution image, and generating images from prompt text. However, access to these AI features requires payment due to the involvement of non-public APIs and the AI model training.

In summary, Imagewise streamlines the development process by simplifying asset acquisition, optimizing images, and offering powerful AI-generated solutions to enhance visual content in projects.

How we built it

How developer built it

From ideation through design, development, testing, and deployment, undertaken by me (Ayu Sudi Dwijayanti). Yes, I started from scratch to design DB and trial error of 3rd Party API than design User Interface in Figma before beginning the coding process. I also faced some challenges during my first implementation of SSR with Nextjs since I was more accustomed to creating CSR.

On the bright side, I'm really pleased with the easy deployment process on Vercel. Before deploying, I had already implemented a great Git Commit and Github Pull Request system, which helped maintain a clear flow of my development. However, during deployment, I ended up creating a new repository because, at first, I wasn't familiar with how straightforward the deployment process with Vercel is. As a result, I ended up with two repositories for ImageWise.

In conclusion, my implementation through SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) was like a waterfall.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges developer ran into

The challenges that the developer encountered are :

  1. First-time use of Next.js and Vercel.
  2. Handling image upload form-data:
Dealing with image uploads in the form of data can be tricky, especially when integrating it into the application's backend or storage system. Ensuring proper validation, security, and efficient handling of uploaded images can be a challenge.
  3. Confusion with SSR (Server-Side Rendering) implementation:
Implementing Server-Side Rendering using Next.js can be confusing, especially if the developer is used to traditional Client-Side Rendering (CSR) with React. The difference in rendering strategies and data fetching methods can lead to confusion and challenges during the development process.
  4. Solo development from ideation to deployment:
Working alone on a project from the initial idea generation, through design with Figma, development, and finally deploying to Vercel can be a demanding task.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. successfully starting and making steady progress on the project.
  2. learning new design and development skills to create a responsive UI for the project.
  3. I have successfully deployed the project using Vercel, making it accessible to users.
  4. I feel a great sense of accomplishment admiring my futuristic design, transitioning it from Figma to real code, and finally launching it for users to experience.

What we learned

  1. Time management
  2. Deployment with Vercel
  3. SSR Implementation with Nextjs
  4. Google Analytics

What's next for ImageWise

  1. Responsive Design
"Optimize responsive client to any device" would be on ensuring that the client application or website provides an optimal user experience across various devices and screen sizes.
  2. Improve SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
Learn SEO and implement to imagewise. eventhough I already implement google analytic but it seems just for my inside information, soon I want to learn how to have a great SEO

FAQ

  • Why did I choose an Otter as the logo?
In the early stages, I contemplated naming the platform Otterwise, playing with the word 'Otherwise,' and considering 'Otherwise Image AI' as a longer version. However, I ultimately decided against using Otterwise because I felt it could distract users from the platform's main focus: the image AI generative capability.

  • Is this cross submission hackathon? Yes it is, after failed to be choosen as winner I came up to ask the tidb committee about cross submission to my project and the answer "Yes, you can do that, but it depends on the other hackathon rules, like u know sometimes they only accept the project create started by their submission date". Here is a project for people to be amaze on AI and believe to use AI wisely in manage asset and generate image. By then I redeploy and restyling ImageWise to https://imagewise-ayusudi.vercel.app.

  • Why did point out "Wise" word?
As developer of ImageWise, I committed to being wise and responsible with our image AI generative feature. My belief is that AI should be a tool to assist people and not replace their jobs. We are aware of the risks associated with misuse and fraud, which can occur when AI technology is not handled wisely by certain individuals with criminal intentions. Our dedication is to ensure that our AI capabilities are harnessed for positive and beneficial purposes, while being vigilant against any potential misuse.
