Inspiration 💥
Our inspiration is to alter the way humans have acquired knowledge and skills over the last hundred years. Instead of reading or writing, we devised of a method fo individuals to teach others through communication and mentoring. A way that not only benefits those who learn but also helps them achieve their goals.
What it does 🌟
Intellex is a diverse skill swapping platform for those eager to learn more. In this era, information is gold. Your knowledge is valuable, and people want it. For the price of a tutoring session, you can receive back a complete and in depth tutorial on whatever you want. Join one on one video calls with safe and rated teachers, and be rewarded for learning more.
We constantly move away from agencies and the government and thus Intellex strives to decentralize education. Slowly, the age old classroom is changing. Intellex presents a potential step towards education decentralization by incentivizing education with NFT rewards which include special badges and a leaderboard.
How we built it 🛠️
We began with planning out our core features and determining what technologies we would use. Later, we created a Figma design to understand what pages we would need for our project, planning our backend integration to store and fetch data from a database.
We used Next.js to structure the project which uses React internally. We used TypeScript for type safety across my project which was major help when it came to debugging. Tailwind CSS was leveraged for its easy to use classes. We also utilized Framer Motion for the landing page animations
Challenges we ran into 🌀
The obstacles we faced were coming up with a captivating idea, which caused us to lose productivity. We've also faced difficult obstacles in languages we're unfamiliar with, and some of us are also beginners which created much confusion during the event. Time management was really difficult to cope with because of the many changes in plans, but overall we have improved our knowledge and experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🎊
We are proud of building a very clean, functional, and modern-looking user interface for Intellex, allowing users to experience an intuitive and interactive educational environment. This aligns seamlessly with our future use of Whisper AI to enhance user interactions.
To ensure optimized site performance, we're implementing Next.js with Server-Side Rendering (SSR), providing an extremely fast and responsive feel when using the app. This approach not only boosts efficiency but also improves the overall user experience, crucial for educational applications.
In line with the best practices of React, we're focusing on using client-side rendering at the most intricate points of the application, integrating it with mock data initially. This setup is in preparation for later fetching real-time data from the backend, including interactive whiteboard sessions and peer ratings. Our aim is to create a dynamic, adaptive learning platform that is both powerful and easy to use, reflecting our commitment to pioneering in the educational technology space.
What we learned 🧠
Besides the technologies that were listed above, we as a group learned an exceptional amount of information in regards to full stack web applications. This experience marked the beginning of our full stack journey and we took it approached it with a cautious approach, making sure we understood all aspects of a website, which is something that a lot of people tend to overlook. We learned about the planning process, backend integration, REST API's, etc. Most importantly, we learned about the importance of having cooperative and helpful team that will have your back in building out these complex apps on time.
What's next for Intellex ➡️
We fully plan to build out the backend of Intellex to allow for proper functionality using Whisper AI. This innovative technology will enhance user interactions and streamline the learning process. Regarding the product itself, there are countless educational features that we want to implement, such as an interactive whiteboard for real-time collaboration and a comprehensive rating system to allow peers to see and evaluate each other's contributions. These features aim to foster a more engaging and interactive learning environment. Additionally, we're exploring the integration of adaptive learning algorithms to personalize the educational experience for each user. This is a product we've always wanted to pursue in some form, and we look forward to bringing it to life and seeing its positive impact on the educational community.
