Inspiration
We were inspired by WWE and how every fighter had their unique introduction into the ring. The introductions alone bring about a sense of character and confidence that we'd like to spread to the masses.
What it does
The user inputs their choice of song and a location on the map where they'd like to have their intro music play. When the phone detects that its current location is overlapped with the marked location, the app plays the designated song.
How we built it
We used Flutter to create the android application and the Google Maps API to import map data.
Challenges we ran into
This was our first-time using Flutter. A lot of energy was wasted learning the syntax and the general structure of a phone app. We had to teach ourselves most of it and spent a significant time on researching problems that a mentor was able to solve in minutes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making progress on our vision was satisfying such as when we were able to successfully integrate Google Maps after hours of troubleshooting.
What we learned
For most of us, this was our first Hackathon. Spending so much time coding gave us a new outlook on development that a class would not be able to teach. We learned a lot about front-end development, Flutter, and integrating an API into an app.
What's next for Intro Music
We could update to include adding your own songs (which wasn't working). We can also convert this application into a stationary physical media the consumer would set up by a doorway, that physical media of which would consist of a sensor, a speaker, and the capabilities to store mp3 data.
