Inspiration

The construction industry loses $1.6 trillion annually to due to significant project delays, cost overruns, and inconsistent communication. From a technology perspective this is what was noticed:

  • Scattered data across emails, spreadsheets, and paper reports
  • poor decision-making by stakeholders due to poor information
  • Overdue invoices discovered weeks too late
  • Disconnected stakeholders (PMs, clients, subcontractors) with no shared visibility Based on this a smarter project management tool is needed that helps wrangle the chaos and helps builders to build better.

What it does

Kaho is smart construction management system which leverages analytics, good system design backed by experience. It transforms construction from choatic to smarter decisions and systemic success.

How we built it

It was a web app built using the medo.dev platform but powered primarily by supabase, react, tailwind-css and typescript. It was designed using the editorial and I also used a requirements.md file which was finetuned to ensure medo.dev would be able to build the app.

Frontend

  • React 18 with TypeScript for type-safe component development
  • Vite for lightning-fast builds a
  • Tailwind CSS
  • React Router for multi-page navigation

Backend & Database

  • Supabase

Challenges we ran into

  • The main issue was fine tuning the requirements document. I spent more time improving the going over the document and fine-tuning it before putting it into the medo.dev platform.

What we learned

  • Construction can be a messy business but with good design it can be less chaotic

What's next for Kaho
