Inspiration
Khäo, literally translating, means eat in Hindi.
My teammates and I noticed that we waste a lot of groceries since we do not know how to use them or the recipes to them. So we decided to come up with this idea evolved into a web application that helps people create their own food using their food items to the maximum potential. All you need is a receipt and an idea of what you want to eat!
What it does
- Reduce food wastage
- Help students eat healthy at home
- Save money All on the receipt of the food items you buy!
How we built it
1.) HTML 2.) CSS 3.) REACT JS 4.) Open AI API 5.) Microsoft Azure Computer Vision
Challenges we ran into
Back end: Connecting ReactJs with Open AI API and using Microsoft Azure Computer Vision. Front end: Web developing the Cigna design to ReactJs. Connecting the HTML and CSS to ReactJs. We eventually were able to solve these challenges!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to implement Microsoft Azure Computer Vision, to extract only cooking ingredients by reading grocery bills. Moreover, we used and trained Open AI API to get the recipes depending on the user's preferences.
What we learned
1.) How OCR works 2.) API for Open AI. 3.) Front End web development using ReactJs 4.)Time management and Project Planning
What's next for KHÄO
Adding new features to make it more user friendly. We will be adding a component where the AI already knows what items the user has previously. Additionally, have a camera option to quickly pull out their camera to scan receipts.
