Inspiration
The recent story of Susan Fowler about her year working at Uber has inspired us to be aware of workplace harassment.
What it does
The problem is knowing the impacts of workplace harassment and how to improve diversity. Our goal is to help company management who may be looking to gain diversity and gain awareness of problems that could arise such as workplace harassment.
How we built it
We used Unity 2D for the web application to embed into our webpage which utilizes html, javascript, and jquery. We used AWS to set up our website.
Challenges we ran into
We spent a lot of time picking a title for our project. Only a few members are familiar with web design therefore we spent a lot of time learning how to provide most of the functionality.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The simulation game we feel is the highlight and our favorite part. The website is also definitely something we are proud of considering this was most of our first times with web development.
What we learned
We learned a lot about web design and how to set up a website through AWS. One of our group members was able to learn a new language and we were all able to get introduced to the program Unity and how to embed this type of project into a website.
What's next for Kickherassment
Kickherassment will hopefully be able to be expanded in the future. Expansions may include more simulations based on real-life workplace harassment stories and better ways for people to network and share their experiences. We hope this web app will be able to make companies more aware of harassment and how to handle it in order to avoid situations like Susan Fowler's.
