Inspiration I wanted to create a tycoon experience that feels fast, satisfying, and mobile-friendly while still offering depth. Kitchen Tycoon was inspired by real-world factory automation and cooking simulation games, combining both into a fun, quick-loop management challenge. The goal was to make something anyone could jump into within seconds but still feel the excitement of growing an empire.

What it does Kitchen Tycoon lets players run their own kitchen factory. They collect, pack, and deliver goods while hiring AI-powered workers to automate production. Each step—from trash collection to order fulfillment—feeds into an expanding business loop where players earn money, XP, and ratings to grow their kitchen empire.

How we built it The world was created using the Horizon Worlds Desktop Editor with TypeScript and Generative AI. GenAI was used to generate NPC systems, store customers, and AI voices that react to player actions. World Variables and UI Gizmos track XP, money, and progression, while the Assembly Worker scripts manage automation and timed tasks.

Challenges we ran into Balancing mobile performance with complex tycoon mechanics was tough. Ensuring AI pathfinding and UI responsiveness across platforms required several redesigns.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Building a complete automated economy loop using GenAI systems—where players truly feel like they’re managing a living kitchen.

What we learned We learned how to blend GenAI scripting with player interaction loops to create scalable tycoon systems that feel both dynamic and mobile-optimized.

What's next for Kitchen Tycoon Future updates will introduce new machines, menu expansions, and leaderboards so players can compete to become the ultimate kitchen mogul.
