AMONG US, the simian flu 🦍
What it does
Lab Outbreak is a browser-based mystery game where players investigate a late-night biolab breach by watching a cinematic intro, interrogating five scientists, and racing a five-minute countdown to identify the culprit before the situation escalates.
Players move from a story-driven cutscene into an interrogation console, where each suspect responds dynamically and the guilty scientist may reveal subtle inconsistencies under pressure. The experience blends narrative suspense, deduction, and real-time decision-making into a fast, replayable detective game built for the web.
How we implemented AI
AI powers the interrogation system by generating believable alibis and live suspect responses, making each conversation feel dynamic instead of scripted. Every suspect is guided by role-specific context, while the guilty character is prompted to slip into subtle inconsistencies when pressured.
This lets the game create a more replayable deduction experience, where players have to read tone, logic, and contradictions rather than memorize fixed dialogue trees. AI turns each round into a fresh investigation with more natural conversation and emergent suspicion.
How we built it
We used VSCode and a variety of online resources to help us code this with our beginner coding skills.
Challenges we ran into
We were challenged by the integration of AI.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished the game on time! And it works!! The end product is super functional and cool.
