Inspiration
A few months ago I had a conversation with a friend, in which they mentioned that they had to clock out at work whenever they needed to use the restroom. This got me thinking: how much money does this actually save companies?
What it does
LavLog is a web app that allows you to keep track of how much money you make while using the restroom at work. You're able to clock in/out through LavLog and it calculates how much money you make in a number of different categories. For example: most money made in a week, current week total, highest grossing week, average week, longest trip to the restroom, etc. You are also able to create and join groups with co-workers or friends, and will have access to your groups leaderboards so that you can see where you rank in the different categories amongst your peers.
How we built it
We built LavLog with Node/Express, MongoDB/Mongoose, Passport, Bootstrap, jQuery, SASS, and Jade
Challenges we ran into
We choose to use a stack that we had virtually zero experience in using, so there were more than a few times where we had trouble working with MongoDB and Node.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of our teamwork! We came into this hackathon as complete strangers and quickly found out that our skill sets complimented each other extremely well, allowing us to get quite a bit accomplished despite the vast number of problems we ran into and lack of knowledge of the stack we used.
What we learned
We learned a lot about MVC architecture, and of course MongoDB and Node.
What's next for LavLog
We would love to deploy LavLog and share it with our friends and family.
