Inspiration
We were inspired by educational game platforms like ABCya and Cool Math Games that made learning enjoyable during our own childhoods. We wanted to create a modern version of that playful experience- one that's accessible, ad-free, and aligned with the digital expectations of today’s young learners. With so many students still facing learning gaps and limited resources, our goal was to make high-quality, engaging education available to anyone with a browser.
What it does
Learning Leopards is a browser-based educational website designed for children, featuring multiple interactive games across core learning subjects like math, reading, and logic. With no logins or downloads required, it makes learning frictionless, fun, and safe.
How we built it
We built the platform using React, Typescript, and CSS for the frontend and Netlify for deployment. Each game is self-contained and hosted directly on the site, allowing fast loading and smooth performance. The UI was designed to be colorful, intuitive, and engaging for younger users, while the codebase was kept modular to allow for future game additions.
Challenges we ran into
-Embedding games within the main website.
-Designing a user interface that was both playful and accessible to young children
-Balancing educational value with fun gameplay mechanics
-Managing layout responsiveness across devices (desktops, tablets, etc.)
-Creating multiple games in a short time frame while maintaining quality and consistency
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Successfully building a multi-game educational platform from scratch within the hackathon timeframe
-Embedding games with functional gameplay
What we learned
-How to build and deploy modular browser-based games
-The importance of user experience design for younger audiences
-How to work efficiently as a team under time constraints
-How to prioritize simplicity without sacrificing functionality
What's next for Learning Leopards
We plan to expand the game library with new subjects and difficulty levels, implement a progress-tracking system for parents and teachers, and explore accessibility features like text-to-speech. We’re also considering incorporating AI to personalize learning experiences based on each child’s performance. Ultimately, our goal is to make Learning Leopards a go-to destination for fun, effective, and inclusive learning online.
