Inspiration

After the pandemic happened, we all recognized how our younger sibling's education was impacted greatly. We knew that having technology as the first thing they see when they wake up out of bed was going to leave a potentially lasting negative memory for them. Hence, why this project is a software that we all care about deeply.

What it does

This app is a simple, fun, and challenging way for kids in the new generation to enjoy math in a form that will keep them engaged and hooked! Similar to the widely popular website that we experienced as kids in the form of Cool Math, Math4U will teach children the fundamentals of financial literacy.

How we built it

We used Android Studio to build our website and implemented a database API. We also used emulators to visualize our program every step of the way. Additionally, we did the functions for both the UI and UX aspects of out project.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge that we ran into was the collaboration in our team since 3/4 of our team members were new to Hackhatons and the experience. Others challenges included software P.S we believe that the learning process was the best part!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Three of our team members were able to work on their first Android apps for the very first time. We are all very proud of each other for how far we have come in 24 hours.

What we learned

We learned how to use programs such as GitHub, and Android Studio, implement APIs, work with emulators, and do successful research.

What's next for Math4U

We want to incorporate a level system for our application to keep our original target audience hooked and challenged as they grow older. We also hope to connect to a larger audience by increasing our age target range.
