Inspiration

Zoom inspired me to take on this project. Its a great way to meet people around the globe and especially good for studying.

What it does

On your first run, you sign up, and enter information about you like what you like to do or what grade you are in. This information is sent to firebase, where you can start mathmaking/matchmaking. My algorithm will figure out who is the closest like you. And with that list of users in order, you can schedule a zoom with that person. If someone schedules a Zoom with you, you can check your schedule and see so.

How we built it

I built this using React Js and Firebase. With the help of stack overflow I was able to overcome many challenges. In addition to this,

Challenges we ran into

I surprisingly did not run into that many challenges. Even though this was one of the most difficult things I did, especially in a rushed manner, the process was very smooth. The biggest issue was really the css. Im not good at that and not a creative person. In addition to this, using the zoom api was a hassel and wasted most of my time. With time running down, I settled with simply giving the user a link.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Im very proud of my tag search because it is super efficient. I am also proud at how fast and easily I set up my firebase. In addition to this, I am happy with how the UI turned out and I found the code to be fairly clean.

What we learned

I learnt how to participate in a hackathon. This was my first time and I managed my time well. I also learnt a little bit about the advantages of using packages, map, tsx and material ui.

What's next for MathMaking

I hope to continue doing this hackathon as I loved the people who came and the lovely organizers. Thank you guys so much I had a fun saturday!
