Inspiration

Each member of group 8 has had some form of negative experience with healthcare services in Brampton. Whether it be long wait times, or uncomfortable arrangements, it was a very noticeable issue within our community that COVID-19 has only amplified. Therefore, group 8 decided that we need to solve this issue via an idea for an application.

What it does

Our application, Medisist, specializes at cutting down on unnecessary wait times, as well as reducing the stress of healthcare workers by allowing patients to wait at home. This is done by creating a virtual queue which allows patients to wait at home and track when a doctor will be ready to see them. Medisist also allows users to figure out whether they have the need to see a doctor or not through a short virtual medical examination. Allowing patients to wait at home also prevents the spread of this viral disease.

How we built it

To create the UI demo for Medisist we used Adobe Illustrator as well as Photoshop. We created the website through the online web design service, Weebly.

Challenges we ran into

The most difficult challenge we encountered was designing the UI for our application as it took a lot of time and effort to create an aesthetically pleasing and easy to use layout.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our group believes that our greatest accomplishment was creating a beautiful and intuitive interface design that we can be proud of. Another accomplishment that our team is satisfied by was the video that had a side story of a family's loss alongside our presentation strengthening our main ideas.

What we learned

Through this process we have strengthened our understanding of the entrepreneurship of software design, as well as improved our abilities to use a variety of software.

What's next for Medisist

Due to the time constraints imposed by the hackathon we decided the most efficient route was to not actually program the application. However, in the future we plan on developing this application, and furthering our knowledge of software development.
