Inspiration
We were brainstorming ideas when we came to the topic of self reflection. One of our group members got onto the topic of keeping a bullet journal and tracking the good and bad things that happen to you throughout the day. We thought that this would be a lot more powerful if you could visualize all of the data you store and that's how our idea came about.
What it does
The initial idea was for it to act as a mood tracker, that also tracks daily habits - and predict the correlation between certain habits and the user's mood. This would promote higher self-awareness and help the user gain a further understanding of what makes them happy, and vice versa - in hopes that this appealing visualization could help them improve their daily lives to better their mood.
How we built it
We used Bootstrap to create our front-end in HTML and CSS. We used some javascript and jQuery. We attempted to use PHP and SQL to develop the back-end of our website.
Challenges we ran into
Since none of us have had thorough web dev experience, executing the back-end side of the website was very difficult to do. We encountered issues with understanding the link between HTML, PHP, and SQL. Therefore, we were not able to develop the more interesting features of our initial idea - such as using linear regression.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very happy with the front-end design of the website. Our goal was to create a minimalist, and appealing website - we were also able to learn how to implement Bootstrap to speed up our development.
What we learned
PHP was an expensive use of our time.
What's next for mindFRAME
We would like to achieve a working data storage process with this website. We believe it has a lot of potential once this milestone is accomplished, as we can take and store user input and create interesting data visualizations and predict patterns.
