🎬 Inspiration Behind getREALS 🔥🧠 The inspiration behind this project came from one unshakable truth: most people won’t read a 10-page article, but they’ll watch a 15-second TikTok with subtitles, a trending audio and a questionable meme font. We live in an era where misinformation travels faster than fact, attention spans are measured in seconds, and the truth has to fight for space between thirst traps and AI filters. And yet the need for accessible, equitable and trustworthy information has never been greater.
We built this project because we believe education shouldn’t be boring, news shouldn’t be inaccessible and global change shouldn’t feel out of reach. From climate change to human rights to mental health, people are desperately trying to understand the world, they’re just not gonna do it through a PDF.
Our goal was to create a platform that delivers scrollable meme-coded emotionally unhinged video content that not only informs but aligns with the values of SDG 4 Quality Education, SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities and SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. It’s not just brainrot, it’s brainrot with a global agenda.
🛠️ How We Built It The platform uses a stack of scraping APIs, semantic analysis tools and customizable video generators to turn raw internet noise into punchy citation-backed short-form content. Here’s how it works
Our backend connects to 6-plus scraping APIs that pull live data from news, social media, academic archives, and even press releases
A deduplication engine ensures we only process fresh, relevant insights, not recycled clickbait
Users can upload their own PDFs links or notes, and enable Deep Research Mode to generate explainer content from scratch
When needed, the system performs light financial forecasting, parsing economic trends, political movements, and media cycles to add analysis and foresight to what we post
Final output is short-form videos with AI-generated voiceovers, stylized captions, visual edits and auto-posting options for TikTok Reels and Shorts
We built the frontend using React & Next.js, designed a clean meme core UI, and ensured it worked across mobile, desktop, and whatever half-broken Chrome extension Gen Z is using.
🧩 Challenges We Faced 🧠 Keeping Chaos Intelligent How do you turn a TikTok scroll into a credible learning experience without sounding like a textbook? We obsessed over pacing style and voice; every word, every frame, every emoji had to hit hard and teach harder.
🌐 Data Mayhem Integrating real-time scraping across multiple domains while filtering out disinfo and dead links was a nightmare. Our deduplication and trust scoring model saved us.
📊 Financial Forecasting in This Economy Teaching the model to turn press releases and market data into simple financial narratives took serious finetuning. It was giving econ major breakdown.
🏆 What We’re Proud Of We made verified knowledge scrollable, accessible, and funny
We proved that UN goals can live on TikTok and still get likes
And most of all, we turned rot into reform, one dopamine-fueled video at a time
🌍 The Future We want to
Launch Lore Mode, a feature that lets users deep dive into topics across time, like “Palestine history in 6 clips.”
Partner with educators, nonprofits, and creators to co-build curriculum disguised as content
Drop an open-source SDG filter for trending misinformation.
And maybe even go viral for something that matters.
