Inspiration
I have a bit of experience of using NodeJS although I've not used it for a very long time. I wanted to use the boilerplate and become familiar with NodeJS again. It is my understanding as part of my University course, I will be due to look into JavaScript and feel like it would be appropriate to experiment with NodeJS.
What it does
It is just a boilerplate. I've made a new repo and linked it to this DevPost.
How I built it
I went to https://hack.mlh.io/learn/ and selected NodeJS. From there I followed the instructions on the GitHub readme file.
Challenges I ran into
The readme file mentioned there was a .env.sample file to copy to create my own .env file. I could not find this file. I checked the MLH discord and found someone who had asked the same question. I had to create my own .env file with the variables provided. I did run npm initial to see if this would generate a .env file.
As I wanted to upload the repo and use the git command line, I had to research how to make a new repo. I am unsure if I should've treated the repo as a template although I managed to create my own repo eventually. I used resources from tutorial websites and information I had learnt earlier during the day to create my own GitHub page.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm very happy to get NodeJS set up and running again. I will experiment with it in due time hence uploading it to GitHub and linking it here.
What I learned
I learnt how to use the git command line a bit more in-depth.
What's next for nodeJS
I will navigate around nodeJS and just generally play around with it.
