Problem We’re Solving: Healthcare organizations are overwhelmed with staying compliant across multiple evolving regulatory bodies such as FDA, CMS, and HIPAA. SOPs often become outdated, leading to compliance risks, patient safety concerns, and legal liabilities. Meanwhile, billing teams face costly claim rejections due to outdated CPT or ICD codes. With regulations frequently updated and scattered across unstructured documents, it's nearly impossible to track, compare, and align internal processes manually. Our project addresses this growing challenge through intelligent automation and regulatory reasoning.

Overview of Our Solution: Our solution is a Regulatory AI Assistant that leverages Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to automatically compare hospital SOPs and internal documents against the latest FDA, CMS, or HIPAA guidelines. It identifies non-compliant sections, highlights regulatory gaps, and generates actionable next steps using OpenAI's GPT-4o. Users can ask queries, upload policy PDFs, and receive compliance reports — all through a user-friendly interface. The system also generates downloadable checklists for operations and billing teams, enabling faster updates and reduced risk exposure.

It automates the tedious process of reviewing long regulatory documents and internal SOPs, identifies gaps with evolving policies (e.g., FDA, CMS, HIPAA), and generates clear action points. This reduces manual review time, minimizes risk of non-compliance, and ensures faster alignment with up-to-date standards—critical for avoiding penalties and claim rejections.

This solution can also be extended and embedded within Commure’s internal compliance workflows or customer-facing products, helping their systems and hospital partners stay aligned with constantly evolving regulations. It can intelligently sift through long regulatory texts and SOPs to flag relevant gaps, making it highly valuable across Commure's ecosystem.
