What it does
NURSER is an application that brings registered nurses and patients to a single platform and helps them connect with each other. This app will bridge the communication gap between a nurse and the patient and make it easy for the patient to get access to a nurse as quickly as possible and at affordable rates. It’s like an UBER for nurses where the patients will request a nurse just the way a rider requests a driver in the UBER application. The application will make sure that as soon as the patient requests a nurse, it starts searching for nearby registered nurses and communicate the needs of the patient. As soon as the request gets accepted by a nurse, the app will connect both parties and share each other’s details. The real-time location of the nurse will make the patient feel confident that their time is valuable, and the nurse is trying their best to reach the location at its earliest. Our business’s motto is to value both the nurse's and the patient’s ethical standards and time!
How we built it
NURSER is an amazing platform for both patients and nurses. We offer amazing opportunities for nurses and the best service to the patients as listed below: To Nurses: • Through NURSER, nurses can have flexible working hours. • Nurses can earn on an hourly basis. • Even retired registered nurses can work on NURSER, as there is no retirement age. To Patients: • Patients can quickly get connected with a nearby nurse. • Real-Time tracking of the nurse. • Get a verified and trained nurse. • Affordable rates.

What we learned
BARGAINING POWER OF SUPPLIER: The bargaining power of suppliers will be low for NURSER as it’s an application-based idea. The number of APP developers is large in number so we can get the app developed by an affordable yet skilled app developer. BARGAINING POWER OF CUSTOMER: The bargaining power of customers will be low because the nurse is an app designed for both patients and nurses. According to Pakistan Nursing Council, there are 108,474 registered nurses in Pakistan currently. A quarter of these nurses might be situated in Karachi considering it’s a big city. Moreover, NURSER’s half-hour rate is PKR 600 which is higher than PKR 200 that the nurses earn through a monthly salary of PKR 80,000. So, there is a large number of nurses who would use NURSER. There are many private and government hospitals in Karachi that discharge a certain number of patients every day, these patients need further care which is provided by home health nurses. Recently, the cost of home health care is rising rapidly, Aga Khan Hospitals Home Health Care charges PKR 1800 for 30 minutes of service which is quite expensive in comparison to NURSER. Hence, the bargaining power of both nurses and patients is low. THREAT OF NEW ENTRANTS: The threat of new entrants is high because it’s an open market and people can come up with similar applications. It’s a growing market and people are looking for technological solutions to everyday problems, therefore it is expected that there is a threat of new entrants. THREAT OF SUBSTITUTES: The threat of substitutes is medium as the substitutes available are expensive options. But patients can go for that option as we would be new in the market. Secondly, the patients might connect with the nurses directly so it will affect the use of the NURSER app. EXISTING COMPETITIVE RIVALRY: Currently, there are no such applications that have connected patients and nurses on a single platform. NURSER will be the first application to provide flexible working hours to nurses and affordable rates to patients.
What's next for Nurser
NURSER is a two-sided marketplace. It is an app that connects both patients and nurses. NURSER targets all the Registered Nurses (RN) in the city and post-surgery patients, palliative care patients, senior citizens, differently-abled patients, COVID patients, and all those patients who need a nurse but can’t visit a hospital. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE NURSER is an app designed for convenience and ease. It’s the first-ever nurse-mapping app that will bring both nurses and patients on a single platform. The greatest advantage is that NURSER is a two-sided marketplace that will be connecting Nurses and Patients with each other. It is a quick service at affordable rates with real-time tracking of the nurse. With ongoing continuous research, we can develop much more features in this app.
