Inspiration
Many students in NUS are experts at various subjects, but might not want to take up a TA position due to the various commitments involved.
What it does
NusHive aims to provide an avenue for which they can still contribute to knowledge sharing and discussion of topics taught in modules. There is a stackoverflow like forum to foster discussion and a consultation system for students to request consults and other students to take on those requests (Though we did not manage to build this feature in the end).
How we built it
The application was built with a ReactJS front-end and ExpressJS backend server.
Challenges we ran into
The project itself is rather large and not feasible for all functionalities to be completed in a 24hr hackathon. We also ran into quite a number of front-end difficulties (ReactRouters) and spent close to 3 hours debugging why session set-headers have been dropped.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A somewhat functional application at the end.
What we learned
Some ReactJS tricks.
What's next for NusHive
Finish up the project in our free time and see where that takes us :)
