Inspiration

Our inspiration come from each of our personal struggles to find internships during our freshman year of college.

What it does

Opportunity Engine is a web application that connects users to career opportunities posted on Twitter. It fetches tweets that match the user's searching criteria, and collects the tweets together onto one organized platform.

How we built it

We used Vuetify to construct the frontend frameworks. We incorporated a Twitter API to access the tweets and sample them on our application. Lastly, we used Github to manage our project.

Challenges we ran into

Ideating the project's purpose was the first challenge we came across. We really worked to collaborate on a project idea that each group member would be proud to build. A technical challenge we ran into was connecting with the Twitter API to avoid fetching retweets. We wanted to avoid duplicating the same post to the users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are most proud of our project idea because we created an opportunity search engine for college students. Being that we faced the same struggles, we wanted to help our community succeed in their intended career path. We are also proud of implementing the Twitter API and the construction of our UI.

What we learned

We learned how to access our tokens and credentials from Twitter.

What's next for Opportunity Engine

We want to create an ML model trained on the twitter data, to better categorize opportunities automatically.
