Inspiration

The inspiration for "Orbit Guardians" stemmed from the idea of leveraging the solar system as a metaphor for structuring various aspects of citizen support during a crisis. We wanted to create an intuitive, visually engaging platform that simplifies the complex task of crisis management by assigning each planet a specific function. This thematic approach not only makes the platform appealing but also helps users easily navigate through different types of support and resources.

What it does

Orbit Guardians is a comprehensive crisis management platform designed to aid the inhabitants of Planet Hackunia during an alien invasion. Each planet in the solar system represents a different aspect of citizen support, including information dissemination, health and well-being, resource management, safe zones, community support, education and training, technology and innovation, and incident reporting. The platform is designed to be accessible across all devices, ensuring that critical information and resources are always within reach.

How we built it

We built Orbit Guardians using:

Frontend: React.js for creating a responsive and interactive user interface.
Backend: Supabase for data storage and user authentication.
APIs: Integrated maps for safe zones and resource centers.
Design: Utilized space-themed graphics and animations to maintain a consistent visual theme.

Challenges we ran into

Supabase Limitations: The free version of Supabase restricts user signups to 3 per hour, which posed significant challenges during testing and development.
Map Implementation: Integrating and implementing interactive maps was slightly complicated and required additional troubleshooting.
Data Integration: Ensuring seamless integration of real-time data APIs for news and maps while maintaining data accuracy and reliability.
