Inspiration

The inspiration for OurBook came from our desire to blend technology, creativity, and education for young minds. We wanted to create a platform where children could be the authors of their own imaginative stories, bringing their characters to life with the help of AI-generated illustrations and imparting valuable life lessons chosen by their parents.

What We Learned

Throughout the development of OurBook, we learned the power of collaboration and the importance of child-centric design. Understanding the unique needs and creativity of children was crucial in shaping the user experience and tailoring the AI generation process to be intuitive and engaging.

How We Built Our Project

OurBook was built using a combination of modern web development technologies. We used HTML, CSS, React, and TypeScript to create an interactive and visually appealing interface. The AI integration involved utilizing Python and OpenAI's tools to generate illustrations and stories based on the user's prompts. We focused on making the platform user-friendly, ensuring children could easily consume their stories and understand the moral lesson the stories attempted to convey.

Challenges Faced

Building OurBook presented several challenges. One major obstacle was connecting the AI to generate a unique and effective storybook. Designing clear and efficient APIs that met the requirements of both the frontend and backend, and handling different API endpoints for various functionalities posed a challenge.
