Sachi is a piano teacher, and found two places where there could be improvement. 1. Learning pitches is strictly auditory, but some students are visual learners. 2. Learning piano needed to have something a bit more engaging for younger kids, and this way to engage should not have to depend on the teacher's ability to engage The aim is to create a platform that helps students form extremely strong associations between colors and sounds to help them feel and see music. In summary, we wanted to make a mental association between every frequency between C^0 and C^8 and every color on the color spectrum. In doing this, the student will be able to tell when a note is "off pitch" because the color they associate will be the wrong color. Our initial goal was to build a web app in react to demonstrate our idea. But when we found that this was too time consuming and we would not be able to finish in time, we decided to switch focus to creating a prototype in figma to display our goals with UX, along with a basic webpage that would display the utility we want to provide.
