Inspiration
We want to attract the masses to NEAR so we came up with Partyngo!
Partyngo will initially be marketed as a fun drinking game through organic viral TikTok campaigns.
However, Partyngo is actually an "awareness game" designed to encourage participants to notice and reflect on the repeated patterns of behaviour that emerge during certain social events.
What it does
At the start of a group event (night out, roadtrip, conference, etc), participants use Partyngo to choose from 9 common scenarios that might occur during the event.
Selection: Before setting off, the group assigns a member's name to each scenario. The top 9 scenarios, along with the names of associated members, are then added to a grid or "raster" in the app.
Gameplay: As the event unfolds, participants log scenarios as they happen. Quick logging earns extra points, especially if others confirm the event. Conversely, incorrect logs that are denied by others result in a loss of points.
Conclusion with Majority Vote: At the end of the event, participants review the scenarios and vote on whether they believe each one actually occurred. The majority vote determines the reality of each event. Points are awarded based on the majority decision, rewarding those who correctly anticipated or observed the actual happenings of the journey.
Recap Creation: The app collects all the data from the selections, logs, and votes and inputs it into a Large Language Model (LLM), in our case ChatGPT. ChatGPT then generates a humorous summary of the journey, which could later be turned into an animation.
Game Objective: While winning points are a part of Partyngo, they're not the main focus. Instead, the game aims to increase awareness of recurring behaviors and create a memorable recap highlighting the journey's fun moments.
How we built it
With love (and coffee)
Challenges we ran into
- Too many distractions at the hacker venue on day one, which resulted in us having to retreat and work from a café.
- Too cold at the hacker house, especially at night.
- Troubles with NEAR documentation not searching/loading correctly.
- No mentors around at night.
- We had problems with the compiler; unfortunately, no one could fix these even after figuring out what was wrong. This made it basically impossible to have our project function on NEAR.
- Confusion with the hacker prizes and submission time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Partyngo was actually invented on the spot after the start of the hackathon on the 7th of November 2023 and is not a repurposed or copy/paste project. We were initially going to build another project to empower devs and bootstrappers. Because we felt that mass adoption was more important to the foundation we came up with Partyngo.
- Our project isn't just for the people inside this venue. It's basically for anyone who does something with a group of friends, colleagues, hackers, and so on.
- We have proper branding, domain (party.ngo), socials (https://twitter.com/partyngo), and a marketing + business plan ready to launch this game to the masses. (Which we will actually do!)
- Partyngo is a viable mass-adoption app that brings value to people by making them aware of certain behaviors in social settings like overconsumption of alcohol.
- None of us had any prior experience with building on NEAR.
What we learned
- NEAR's technology is very promising, but it's not as easy to build on NEAR as we thought. If there is a next time we will need an experienced NEAR dev on our team.
What's next for Partyngo
- Partyngo will be the 4th project that goes on chipper.build once it is ready to use. (Built at EthLisbon) This will allow us to split up the future tokens/equity between all Partyngo team members and, meanwhile, attract open-source developers to contribute and earn their share of the pie.
- We shall continue building it on NEAR if we can fix the implementation and hopefully attract an experienced NEAR developer. We are sure this can make a difference with mass exposure and becoming a viral hit.
- After finishing and officially launching Partyngo on Near, we would let the best Chippers take over the management of the project and take it to the next step while we focus on our main project(s).
