Inspiration
We were inspired by the original project featured at the Women's Hackathon designed to connect refugee families with others able to provide them with support.
What it does
Our website, once fully implemented, is designed to allow refugees to select basic necessity items. Then families abroad with the means to provide them select a family to sponsor, and send them items, money, and/or letters.
How we built it
We used existing open source HTML and CSS frameworks, redesigning and recording them to suit our website's needs.
Challenges we ran into
Our group was new to coding, so teaching ourselves the technical aspects of HTML, CSS, and Javascript was a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We reached out to companies like Google, Raspberry Pi, and Google Loon for possible support, and got a response from google.
What we learned
We learned web design basics, project-planning, and time-management skills.
What's next for People United
We're looking forward to getting feedback on our project!
