Inspiration
The best part of Ankara-- the fact that it is so colorful-- creates an issue when you are trying to choose just what color or bag or headpiece your shoes should be. We thought it would be great to delegate that decision to Pepperish and step out effortlessly looking spicy.
What it does
It lets you scan a picture of the Ankara pattern. And then shows you the most dominant colors in the design, as well as the colors your accessories could be in, as well as a maximum of three jewelry color choices (gold, rose-gold, and silver).
How we built it
We built the front end in React and the back end with Convex. We used the Google Vision API to recognize the dominant colors in the Ankara image, and we wrote a careful complimentary-color algorithm for deciding the colors for jewelry and other accessories.
Challenges we ran into
Never written backend or used an API before, so there were those learning curves.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having completed a project at all
