Octocat and HackNJIT's 2020 theme: Passport to the World

What it does

It's just a static piece of artwork.

How I built it

With Paint Tool Sai, Adobe Photoshop CS6, and my trusty 10-year-old wacom Bamboo tablet. And a bit of GitHub pages.

Challenges I ran into

I was initially planning on submitting a more technical hack. However, between homework, copy editing articles for The Vector, spending hours setting up different frameworks on a new platform before getting started with any actual coding, never quite deciding on which map API to use, and Pokémon Showdown extending significantly beyond schedule, I ended up realizing that I wouldn’t have enough time to create a finished project.

So, I decided to spend time bonding online with other hackers (which included thirty-second chess!), and my efforts on the MLH Octocat drawing because although I have submitted one to almost every hackathon I’ve been to, I have yet to be noticed by @MLHacks or @GitHubEducation. I had fun!

What I learned

Next time I should probably install dependencies and frameworks and set up my environment prior to the hackathon. I also used GitHub pages and custom domains for the first time.
