Ever watched an F1 pit stop? A perfectly choreographed 2-second tire change where every millisecond matters? That's what software development should feel likeโbut most teams are stuck with flat tires and don't even know it.
We built Pit Crew Optimizer to bring that F1 pit stop precision to development workflows. Instead of just showing metrics, we wanted an AI co-pilot that actually understands your team's health and gives actionable advice.
What It Does
๐๏ธ Pit Crew Optimizer transforms your Jira project into a racing dashboard:
- ๐ป Pit Radio: Analyzes Jira comments for team sentiment and communication health
- ๐ Achievement Badges: F1-style gamification with badges like "Pole Position" and "Fastest Lap"
- ๐ Sprint Retro Generator: One-click Confluence-ready retrospective content
- ๐ฎ Race Engineer: AI-powered sprint predictions and workload recommendations
- ๐๏ธ Interactive Dashboard: 5 tabs, action buttons, auto-refresh, and click-to-expand details
How We Built It
Tech Stack:
- Atlassian Forge - Serverless backend with Node.js 20.x
- React 16 - Custom UI with racing theme
- Rovo Agent - AI-powered assistant with 8 custom actions
- Mini-VADER Sentiment Analysis - Enhanced with valence shifters (negation, intensifiers)
Key Innovation: We built 8 Rovo actions that go beyond simple CRUD operationsโthey actually analyze, predict, and recommend. The agent speaks in F1 metaphors ("Box, box, box! We have a problem...") making work feel like a championship race.
Challenges We Ran Into
- Forge Scope Limitations: Discovered that Bitbucket workspace scopes can't mix with Jira site scopes - had to pivot to mock data for commits
- Sentiment Analysis: Building a lightweight "Mini-VADER" that handles negation ("not good" โ "good") without heavy ML libraries
- Interactive UI in Forge: React Custom UI has limitations, but we pushed it with tabbed navigation, action buttons, and auto-refresh
Accomplishments We're Proud Of
- ๐ 8 Rovo Actions - More than any other submission we've seen
- ๐ฎ Gamification - Making project management actually fun
- ๐ Interactive Dashboard - Not just static metrics, but action buttons and live refresh
- ๐ค AI Personality - An agent that speaks F1, not corporate
What We Learned
- Forge Custom UI is powerful but requires creative workarounds
- Rovo agents can be personalities, not just tools
- Gamification works even in project management
