Inspiration
I met up with angel at the mixer and we talked about ways we could help the environment through waste control or even help reduce our pollution. We decided to create this app to help people who wish to help to meet up and help make our community healthier to live.
What it does
It asks the user for a login for now the username is user and the password is password we haven't got into making a registry for all users. It then takes them to a google map and asks you have a choice to make an event, finding your location and using the map to interact with people. The markers are there for others to look at it and join an even they are interested in. Clicking anywhere on the map will place a marker and ask for a user to create an event and ask for a time, date, etc
How we built it
We used phonegap to make our app and used HTML, Javascript, and CSS to make our app more appealing and we used Google Javascript API so we could get a map that we could interact with and place markers, find location, etc.
Challenges we ran into
It was challenging trying to make an app when we were simply new to creating apps on phones. Angel worked on javascript, CSS, and HTML before but for me it was a whole brand new experience. I didnt sleep at all to work and I ended up enjoying what I learned and proud of how far we made it with the pollution solution app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to integrate Google API and use many of their features into our app as well as creating a visually nice app that would be able to help users come together to clean the community. It was hard but enjoyable and even though we had a few bumps along the way we were able to finish most of our design and were thinking about more features to add as we were coding.
What we learned
We learned a lot from simply coding at Hackathon and trying to create the app Pollution Solution. I learned new languages and also made a whole new app with one of my closest friends. It was simply worth the time coding this app. I also learned how to figure out Google API and angel also brushed up on his languages and learned a lot about using google API on our app.
What's next for Pollution Solution
We wish to make more options for users and create an app everyone would love to use. We were already thinking about adding graphs of how much waste users collected, different markers for other problems, fixing a few bugs on our app and as well as having a reward our users who help make our environment cleaner by giving them money, prizes and recognition from our app as the hero of the environment.
