Inspiration
We are four university students who find it hard to find good information online about healthy recipes, especially for preferences that we or the people in our lives have, such as wanting meals with more protein, less sugar or calories or certain diets that exist such as a vegan or keto diet. This inspired us to build a tool that is easy to use for anyone and that can help navigate recipes in an interactive and fun way.
What it does
Our tool helps the user modify a recipe to their needs by offering substitution suggestions based on their preferences.
How we built it
We used nextjs to build our website with ant design for styling. For our services we used Google Gemini to process recipes. To scrape data from the internet we used the YellowCake API.
Challenges we ran into
We had issues with getting a response from YellowCake API but other than that everything ran smoothly.
What we learned
For three of us it is our first hackathon so we learned how to split up the tasks but also how to work together as a team and make sure all our components work well together. We also learned how to use new services and programs such as integrating the Google Gemini API in our app and using the YellowCake API for scraping.
