Revocare
Inspiration
People with Parkinson's disease have deteriorating motor skills and worsening hand dexterity which causes a devastating impact on their daily life. Wuqinxi is a form of traditional Chinese exercise that has been proven to help. Revocare is designed to help beginners suffering from Parkinson's with starting Wuqinxi.
What it does
A web app guides you through performing Wuqinxi exercises, and computer vision technology makes sure your form is correct. Additionally, a wristband with an accelerometer ensures you are moving through the exercises at the correct pace.
How we built it
We utilized a whole bunch of different technologies. For the frontend we used React. For backend we used Fast API & Modal. For the hardware we utilized Arduino C.
Challenges we ran into
CORS and time management! We're ambitious and we want to do a lot, which is noble -- but sometimes it works against us. We cut it pretty close on our project deadline, which is never something you want to risk.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a project that integrates software and hardware in a proof-of-concept that is both practical and relevant to those we are trying to help.
What we learned
We learned to integrate hardware and software in a complete product, and how to create a production product and service.
What's next for Revocare
Explore whether or not this proof-of-concept is economically feasible, and how to help more Parkinson's sufferers. Additionally, add in Multimodal ML strategies to improve accuracy and customer satisfaction.
