Creating a tool that help in manually tailoring your resume to fit a job description/company all while making sure the user is having his CV uploaded to various job sites in short time.

Inspiration

The inspiration behind this project is our on current story/situation. Everyone's looking for jobs but no one has time to tailor for each and every job post, so we thought of making a tool that simplifies the hard part and making it fun while applying in quick timing

What it does

While on a Job Site, an extension pops up and appears to help and guide you (while using your already submitted CV and additional info) to tailor a resume for you that was already provided to the tool. The most important process is not primarily creating a perfect, polished, and tailored resume but making it and being able to submit in a very low amount of time to make sure the user is not spending as much time as they would if done manually on their own

Challenges we ran into

Building the extension required overcoming several technical hurdles, starting with the complex orchestration of the manifest, background scripts, and popup to ensure a stable architecture. I had to engineer resilient DOM selectors to reliably extract data from LinkedIn’s dynamic interface and establish a seamless connection to a Python backend. Finally, I focused on fine-tuning model instructions to ensure the AI-driven resume tailoring remained precise, professional, and contextually accurate.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully bridged the gap between a browser extension and a high performance LLM, transforming a tedious 20 minute manual task into a near-instantaneous process. We’re proud of building a robust scraping system for LinkedIn’s complex interface and, most importantly, creating a functional tool that solves a real world burnout problem for job seekers.

What we learned

We learned that most times things are not gonna go our way and some code will not run properly or to our own liking but that's fine and its an important part of the process. Mistakes are made along the way to teach us how to fix issues and make better projects

What's next for RUNF Apply

The next step for RUNF Apply is to become 2x faster in tailoring a user's resume and eventually becoming one of the fastest auto application extensions on the web to help every single person on earth when they are applying for jobs.
