Inspiration
Last hackathon, I saw this project, called EYEBalliN link, which used this thing called the face-api.js. I looked into it, and it inspired me to make this invention. Furthermore, in real life, I've seen many drivers blatantly looking at their phones while driving. That kinda angered me, and since Ford was apart of this hackathon, it gave me a chance to try to stop people from texting on their phones.
What it does
This application tries to see if you are looking at your phone/if you're looking away from the road. However, it doesn't work as intended. I couldn't find a way to make the conditional work, and didn't have time to change it. So, I have just put the audio files to the right side, that would be played if the driver was to not pay attention to the road.
How we built it
I built this using face-api.js, as well as
Challenges we ran into
A major problem I had was trying to connect the confidence threshold to my conditional statement. I attempted to make a statement where if the Confidence Threshold is less than a certain number/unidentifiable, an audio and visual cue would play.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Using a webcam on a website, using the API.
- Working by myself ## What we learned I've learnt how to incorporate new JS API's and have learnt how to display and edit peripherals on a website. ## What's next for SafeShark I Definitely want to fix my website, and make it to an application, so people don't waste data on their phones.
