Inspiration

The inspiration to create a sailboat event web app came when I noticed a need for a comprehensive platform that could unite sailors, streamline event management, and offer real-time race tracking, weather updates, and performance analytics. With this web app, we aim to bring the excitement of sailboat racing to a broader audience while providing valuable tools for both sailors and event organizers.

What it does

Our webapp allows user to sign in and attend a event that have been hosted by other users. Users can also join as a racer which the event host can connect with them. Our apps shows nearby events and shows its details such as location, time, price to attend and more.

How we built it

Creating our sailboat event web app was a collaborative journey that combined the expertise of a dedicated team of developers, and designers. With a clear vision in mind, we meticulously designed the user interface and functionality, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience using React and Vite. For our backend, we used express to create the endpoints, rds mysql for our database, and aws for server hosting managing our code.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the main issues the frontend team ran into was making the UI responsive, and implementing clerk. Our backend team couldn't connect the database with our frontend due to technical difficulties.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the fact that we were able to create a responsive UI and a great UX design. We were also able to stick with the nautical theme of this hackathon.

What we learned

Some of us got to improve our skills in html and css, while others learnt to set up rds.

What's next for SailSprint

In the future SailSprint would like to create a great dashboard for event hosts so that they can manage all the racers and the attendees in one place. We plan to implement more and more features to help the sail boat racing community.
